1. Clean up and organise your data
Regularly cleaning up your data helps NetSuite run more smoothly. Removing outdated records, merging duplicates, and using standard naming rules can improve system performance and reduce errors. You can use NetSuite’s built-in tools like mass update and saved searches for this task.
Always back up your data before making changes, and document what you do for future reference.
Merge duplicate records, especially customers and suppliers.
Use saved searches to find and inactivate or delete old records.
2. Optimise saved searches and reports
Saved searches and reports are powerful, but if they are not set up well, they can slow down your system. To improve performance, use filters to limit the time range or number of results. Avoid using the “contains” condition, and use “starts with” or “has keywords” instead, as these are less demanding on the system.
Schedule heavy searches to run in the background.
Limit the date range and avoid including system notes unless necessary.
3. Review and simplify scripts and workflows
Custom scripts and workflows help automate your business, but too many or complicated ones can slow NetSuite down. Regularly review your scripts, remove those you do not need, and simplify where possible. Automate routine tasks using NetSuite’s SuiteFlow or SuiteScript to reduce manual work and errors.
Use automation for repetitive tasks, such as invoicing or notifications.
Optimise workflows to keep them simple and efficient.
4. Manage integrations carefully
If you use integrations with other systems, check how often they update NetSuite and what data they move. Too many updates or transferring unnecessary data can slow things down. Batch updates when possible, and remove integrations you no longer use.
Validate and clean data before importing, especially with CSV files, to avoid errors from hidden characters or formatting issues.
Set up real-time validation in automated processes to catch problems early.
5. Adjust NetSuite’s built-in performance settings
NetSuite has settings that can help pages load faster. You can:
Set your landing page to the one you use most.
Delay loading of sublists to speed up initial page load.
Lower the number of rows in list segments and the maximum entries in dropdowns for faster loading.
You can find these options under Home > Set Preferences in NetSuite.
Note: These tips are based on best practices and official documentation. Always test changes in a safe environment before applying them to your live system, and make sure you have proper backups
